Precautions to take in rainy season.

Indoor Safety-

  1. Periodically test the electrical installation for insulation strength and replace if required.
  2. Replace damaged electrical components like switches, plug sockets etc., immediately when noticed.
  3. Use only ISI marked electrical appliances, cables and wires.
  4. Use 30 mA ELCB the "LIFE SAVER" at the main supply point.
  5. Get electrical work done only by qualified licensed electrical contractors.
  6. Install switches and plug sockets at an inaccessible height and away from children.
  7. Do not use electrical appliances that have been wet.
  8. Make sure that there is easy access to switch off the supply source quickly in case of an emergency. 
  9. Do not fix a nail on the wall where concealed PVC conduit wiring has been done. 

Outdoor safety-

  1. Avoid fallen electricity poles and power lines or anything in contact with these.
  2. Do not touch water or anything in contact with water near where there is a downed power line.
  3. Do not try to free somebody who is in contact with an electrical power line but do inform and alert the nearest DISCOM office, faults center and Police or Fire Brigade.
  4. Do not go near the fencing of electrical transformers on the streets.
  5. Do not use electric poles as support to pandals or for displaying advertisement boards.
  6. Do not secure animals to the electric poles or the stay wires.
  7. Do not climb any tree that is touching or is near to power lines.
  8. Stay inside a car if it is in contact with a fallen power line and tell others to stay away from the car. If the car has caught fire, jump out of the car without contact with the car or any other metal part of the car.
